Main Screen

Track Tab

Current status information on the Default Device is displayed.

Control Buttons

  • Start Tracking - Sends a tracking SMS to the Device requesting a number of position updates at specified intervals. (See Tracking Settings to configure these) The number of position updates remaining will be shown in the Title Bar.

  • Stop Tracking - Sends an SMS message to cancel any remaining tracking messages.

  • Update Position - (Button is shown if the Device is in Tracker mode) Calls the default Device to request an updated position fix.  The Device will automatically hang up the call and send its latest position. 

  • Call to Monitor - (Button is shown if the Device is in Monitor mode)  A call is placed to the device. The device will answer this and the user will be able to listen to whatever sounds are close to the Device.  This call remains open until it is explicitly cancelled by the UserThis may incur high phone charges depending upon your carrier tariff.

  • Change Mode - Allows you to switch the Device between the following modes: (only modes supported by your Tracker's configuration will be shown)

    • Tracker - A call to the Device will be rejected (usually with a busy signal) and will generate a position update response.

    • Monitor - A call to the Device will be answered and remain open enabling the caller to listen to whatever sounds are close to the Device.

    • SMS -  All Device position updates are sent to the calling phone via SMS.

    • GPRS - All Device position updates are sent to a registered server via a GPRS connection. 

Menu Options

  • App. Settings - Displays the System Settings screen and allows application options to be set.

  • Track & Alarms - Allows tracking frequency & repeat count and 'Movement' alarms to be configured for this Tracker

  • GPRS Settings - Allows configuration of GPRS server, APN &  SD Card settings.

  • New Device - Allows the User to configure a new Tracker

  • New Trip - Allows creation and editing of Trips.  Trips can display subsets of the all the position updates for any Tracker in the database.

  • New Map - shows a full screen map (without Tabs)

  • Help - Displays this help file

  • Close Application - Completely closes the application and stops all background services.  Note: Only use this option if you want to stop processing any further messages from your device.  You will miss any SOS, Low Battery or Movement alarms.  Use the Phone back or home keys to close the main screens and leave the services running in the background.  When running in the background TKMon should use virtually no battery or other resources. We recommend you leave it in this mode. 

Devices Tab

A list of configured devices is displayed. Tap any device for a list of editing options.

Editing Options

  • Set as Default – The selected Device will be shown as the active device in the Track tab. Map and other information will be shown for this device.

  • Edit – Allows editing of the following:

    • Main Settings - Name, Number  Type etc.

    • Track & Alarms - Set up the 'Tracking' interval/repeat count and configure the various 'Movement' alarms

    • GPRS Settings - Set up the IP address:port and APN information to allow your TK device to use GRPS instead of SMS. Also allows setting of any SD Card functions.

    • Extra Options - Additional Device options and Clone options can be set here.

    • Admin. Numbers – Displays and allows editing of the numbers that the Device will treat as Authorised to request & receive tracking information.

    • Password – Allows the User to change the Device password (password must be 6 digits – the default is 123456)

  • Show Map - Opens a full screen map for this device.

  • Update Position - allows Device position to updated in the following ways:

    • Call to Update - Makes a telephone call to the selected Device to request a single position update.  The Device will automatically hang up the call and send its latest position.  Note: If the Device is in Monitor mode then you will be asked if you wish to switch to Tracker mode - If you answer yes then an SMS will be sent to switch modes and once acknowledged by the Device, a call will be placed request a position update as normal.

    • SMS Track, once - Sends an SMS to the selected Device to request a single position update. (no user confirmation is requested)

    • SMS Track, 3 @ 1 min - Sends an SMS to the selected Device to request three tracking updates one minute apart. (no user confirmation is requested)

    • SMS Track, standard - Uses the pre-configured Tracking settings. (user confirmation is requested)

  • Reset – Sends a message to the Device to reset it – all Device settings will be cleared and the Password will be set to the default (123456)

  • Delete – Deletes the Device from the application database.  Tracking history may optionally be deleted at this point.  (If the Tracking history is not deleted then it will be automatically recovered should a new device with exactly the same phone number be re-entered in the database)

  • Export GPS to File - Exports all the tracking position information for this Device to a data file.  The file is saved on your phone's SD Card (or main storage if no SD Card is available) in the folder TKMon/export/ The file will have name in the format 'xxxxxyymmddhhmmss.dat' where xxxxx is the name of the Device and yymmddhhmmss is the date and time the file was created. Each line in the file corresponds to one position record with the fields separated by tabs. You can import this file to Microsoft Excel/Access or many other programs.

  • Delete GPS History - Deletes all the GPS tracking records for this device from the database. This command cannot be undone.

Menu Options

  • New Device - Allows the User to configure a new Device

  • Help - Displays this Device Settings help

Trips Tab

Allows creation and editing of Trips.

Select a Trip from the displayed list to enable the following functions

  • Set as Default - Sets this trip as the default trip for the relevant Device. If a default trip is set for a Device then the Map will always use this to determine what points to display.
  • Edit - Allows Trip Icon, Start and End times to be edited.
  • Show Map - Shows a preview map of the currently selected Trip.
  • Delete - Permanently deletes the selected Trip (The GPS position data is not deleted)

Menu Options

  • New Trip - Create a new Trip using pre-selected period or custom date and times.
  • Help - Displays this help file

Map Tab

Shows a number of tracking pins for the Default Device  on a street or satellite map.

The following Pins may be displayed on the map.

  • Normal position - less than 15 minutes old

  • Normal position - more than 15 minutes old

  • Movement Alarms - Move, Speed, Stockade, Shake

  • Low Battery Alert

  • SOS Alert

  • GSM Cell Tower

Each Pin has a number on it with the highest number being the latest reported position.  The number of positions shown is configured in the Map Points to Display application setting.

If the Device reported a Low Signal then the Pin will have an exclamation mark '!' in the pointer. In this case the actual location may be old or less accurate than normal.

Tapping a pin on the map will display its coordinates, status and address (if available).  The following options are available  at the bottom of this status screen.

  • Other Maps - Select this to send this points co-ordinates to another configured mapping application (e.g. Google Maps, Google Earth , Alpine Quest etc.).  This will open the selected application in a new screen. If you choose Google Maps, you can get directions (walking driving etc.) from your current position to the map Pin you selected. You may also use Google Navigation to guide you directly, turn by turn, to the selected Pin.  If you select a mapping application that has offline maps configured then you will be able to continue to show the tracker's position even if your phone has no data coverage.

  • Send - (Visible if the Allow email Send application option is enabled) Select this to send the information via any registered handler (email, SMS, Bluetooth, Facebook etc.) on the phone .   This email includes a Google Maps link allowing the recipient to show the Device position in a browser or generate driving/walking instructions from their current position to the Device.

  • Street View - Select this to send the position co-ordinates directly to Google Street View. A new screen will open with the Street View visible.  Note: Street View must be configured on your phone for this to work.  Also not all locations have a valid Street View and some locations may return a blank screen.

Tapping on any other area of the map will bring up the zoom controls. The map may be dragged and expanded using the usual touch gestures.

A compass may be displayed if the Show Compass application option is set.

The following overlays may also be shown on the map:

  • A magenta circle to show the position and range of any cell tower information that is available. (A dotted circle means that the range is estimated)
  • A green circle to show the extent of any active tracking movement limit.
  • A Yellow circle or rectangle to show the extent of any active movement or stockade alarms.

Menu Options

  • Street/Satellite - Shows a street or Satellite view of the map.

  • Update Position - allows Device position to updated in the following ways:

    • Call to Update - Makes a telephone call to the device to request a single position update. (no user confirmation is requested)

    • SMS Track, once - Sends an SMS to the Device to request a single position update. (no user confirmation is requested)

    • SMS Track, 3 @ 1 min - Sends an SMS to the Device to request three tracking updates one minute apart. (no user confirmation is requested)

    • SMS Track, standard - Uses the pre-configured Tracking settings. (user confirmation is requested)

  • Track & Alarms - Allows you to configure/activate a Movement alarm

  • Map Centre - Allows you to centre the map on one of the following:

    • Device - Latest reported position of the device.

    • You/Phone - Your last current position, if available. This needs some form of position location (GPS/GSM/Wi-Fi) to be enabled on the Phone.

    • Device & You - Alters the map centre and zoom factor to try and show both the Device and your last current position on the screen.

    • All Device positions - Attempts to scale the map to show all the currently displayed map points on the one screen.

  • Hide/Show Your Position - Displays your current position on the map as a blue circle if the Show Current Position application option is set and you have Location Services enabled on your phone.  Note:- the accuracy of this position is dependent upon the GPS/GSM service.
